President Maithripala Sirisena has agreed to appoint a special committee to probe into allegations of corruption within the health ministry over the last few years.
The GMOA and the President arrived at a consensus on a wide array of issues, GMOA Secretary Dr. Haritha Aluthge told reporters following the meeting with the President on Saturday.
Dr. Aluthge also said that the GMOA would expose the corrupt activites that had taken place within the health sector especially in the State Pharmaceutical Corporation (SPC) during the last four years.
He added that the President had expressed willingness to issue a gazette in order to establish a committee to probe into such allegations.
