Ambuluwawa Cable Car Project halted

Minister of Environment Dr. Dammika Patabendi has stated that the Ambuluwawa Cable Car Project will be resumed only if confirmation is received that there will not be any damage to the environment.

 

HL-FRAC had a meeting for Ditwah relief efforts review

Under the chairmanship of the Deputy Minister of Defence Major General Aruna Jayasekara the High-Level Committee for Foreign Relief Aid Coordination (HL-FRAC) has convened another meeting at the Parliament Complex.
The aim was to review the coordination of foreign relief assistance and to implement decisive measures that guarantee full transparency and operational efficiency across all relief efforts.

 

HC postpone order on preliminary objections filed by AG in case of former ministers 

The Colombo High Court has postponed the order on the preliminary objections in the case filed by the Attorney General against former ministers Mahindananda Aluthgamage and Nalin Fernando, and retired Army Major General Nanda Mallawaarachchi until March 25.

 

Health Minister gives stats on STD/AIDS cases 

The Minister of Health and Mass Media, Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa stated that through 41 clinics that are being conducted across Sri Lanka at present under the National STD/AIDS Control Programme 4,771 HIV/AIDS patients, 1,469 Syphilis patients, and 2,891 Herpes patients are currently receiving treatment.

 

Another protest by teachers near President's office 

A protest was staged by teachers and non-academic staff members of national schools across the country near the main entrance of the Presidential Secretariat for suspending the privilege allowing staff who have completed three years of service in national schools to enroll their children in the same schools without any valid reason in 2025.

 

Amber advisory issued for severe lightning

The Department of Meteorology has issued an Amber advisory for severe lightning in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Galle and Matara districts.
