President Maithripala Sirisena urged the acceleration of relief programmes following the drought that has affected around 420,000 people in the North Central province.
According to the President's Media Division a sum of Rs 9,000 million has been allocated to provide relief to those affected.
The services of the tri-forces have also been channled towards the relief efforts
