President Maithripala Sirisena has issued a letter to Ranil Wickremesinghe to inform the latter has been removed from the position of the Prime Minister.
Issuing a letter to the Mr. Wickremesinghe, the President noted that he could remove him as per Article 42 (4)
However, Mr. Wickremesinghe noted that he will remain Prime Minister in future as per the constitution.
Former Speaker and NPP MP Asoka Ranwala was arrested today following a road accident in the Denimulla area of Sapugaskanda last night, police said.
