Speaking at media briefing in Kurunegala, Deputy Minister Nalin Bandara said there were indications that a Presidential election would be held first as it didn't seem likely that a general election was on the horizon.
The Deputy Minister elaborated on the future plans of the UNP saying " Very soon it will be revealed how strong we are and how many SLFP memebers are waiting to join us. While an election will come in 2021. Whatever anyone says, a presidential election will come first."
Mr Bandara said further, "We have the winning presidential candidate. Ranil Wickremesinghe is not a leader who sends the party into the wilderness. The party will be handed over to future leaders and he will work towards the elections in the future."
