The Ministry of Justice and Prison Reforms has decided to import the noose to be used at the gallows in lieu of implementing the death penalty.
Accordingly, a letter has been put forward by the Ministry to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs seeking to import the noose.
The letter has suggested that the noose be imported from a country which carries out the death penalty. Countries such as Pakistan, Bangaldesh, India, and Singapore are some of the countries listed in the letter.
The current noose is 12 years old and was imported from Pakistan.
