Lawyers appearing for parliamentarian Rajitha Senaratne filed a motion at the Colombo Magistrate's Court seeking to withdraw the arrest warrant issued on their client.
Senaratne is facing arrest for organising a media briefing attended by two persons who were allegedly involved in being a "white van" driver during an alleged bductions before 2015.
The Criminal Investigations Department (CID), upon the instructions of the Attorney General, obtained an arrest warrant from the Colombo Magistrate’s Court this week.
The parliamentarian’s anticipatory bail application, filed before the arrest warrant had been issued, seeking the prevention of his arrest has been fixed for further hearing on December 30.
