A rally would be held in Kurunegala in support of United National Party (UNP) Deputy Leader Minister Sajith Premadasa today (Sept 5).
State Minister Ashok Abeysinghe who has organised the event, said that the rally would commence at 2:30 pm.
He added that the party leadership has not issued instructions to cancel the rally.
Accordingly, Mr. Abeysinghe pointed out that Minister Premadasa and 24 other parliamentarians would take part in the rally despite many UNPers having to attend Parliament today.
Several rallies have been organised in support of the UNP Deputy Leader in a bid to nominate him as the presidential candidate of the party.
