The Registration of Deaths (Temporary Provisions) (Amendment) Bill, which provides for the issuing of certificates of absence in lieu of death certificates to relatives of missing persons , has been certified by Speaker Karu Jayasuirya.
The Bill approved by Parliament last month lays out the procedure for the next of kin of the missing persons to obtain the certificates of absence which would in turn enable them to obtain entitlements from the state and other welfare.
