A comprehensive report regarding the prevention of kidney disease submitted to President Maithripala Sirisena yesterday.The report was prepared after consultations with prominent scientists and researchers under the three categories of environment, social and health.
A special conference on prevention of kidney disease organized by the Chinese Academy of Sciencetogether with theWater Supply and Drainage Board was held at the Galle Face Hotel in Colombo today. During the event Minister of City Planning and Water Supply Rauff Hakeem presented the report to the President.
According to an agreement signed by the President during his recent State visit to China it was agreed to provide technical assistance to Sri Lanka to control the spread of kidney disease. Hence, it will assist Sri Lanka to find the root cause for the spread of kidney disease and prevent it.
According to the President Media unit, President extended his appreciation to the Government of China and its people for organizing this event and a special souvenir was presented to Mr.Huasheng Qiu, the Deputy Director of International Cooperation Bureau, ChineseAcademy of Sciences by the President.
The President also presented another five souvenirs for the professors from the Chinese Academy of Sciences for their immense contribution in the prevention of kidney disease. A special memento also presented to the President. Minister of City Planning and Water Supply Rauff Hakeem, Yi Xianliang, Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka and others participated in the event.
