The foundation stone for the Alms Giving Hall at the St. Anthony Shrine in Kochchikade was laid by Most Rev. Cardinal Filoni of Vatican, today (May 22).
The Hall is being constructed with the assistance of the Sri Lanka Navy.
Archbishop of Colombo Most Rev. Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith, Navy Chief of Staff Rear Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenna and a large number of naval personnel were present at the occasion.
Most Rev. Cardinal Filoni who brought the condolences message of His Holiness Pope Francis, conveyed his sympathies and inquired about the victims of the Easter Sunday attacks.
He had also engaged in a cordial discussion with Naval personnel who were engaging in renovation work of the church.
