Rs.105 billion have been allocated for schools in order to take health and all other measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the school community, Education Ministry Secretary Prof. Kapila Perera said.
Out of the total 10,165 schools in the country, 5,100 schools (from grade six and above) were re-opened for the third term today (23).
Schools in the Western province and in several risky/isolated areas in North-Western, Sabaragamuwa and Eastern provinces will be closed until further notice.
The Education Secretary said the situation will be monitored prior to opening of primary classes in schools.
