Ruwan Wijewardene has been appointed as the Acting Defence Minister as President Maithripala Sirisena took wing to Britain on a private visit today (Jul 9).
The President had left for Britain in order to attend the graudation ceremony of his son, the President's Media Division said.
President Sirisena holds the portfolio for the Minister of Defence while Mr. Wijewardene serves as the State Minister of Defence.
