Minister of Commuter Transport Management Mahinda Amaraweera has decided to restrict the semi-luxury service by bringing a new regulations to run the bus service only at night.
Introducing the new law the minister said the buses will be eligible to function from 07.00 p.m. until 06.00 a.m. the following day also one trip should include 200 kilometers per day.
Minister Amaraweera said even though many criticisms were to abolish the service the Ministry have decided to continue the service by making it a more convenient service for the public.
After a meeting held with the National Transport Commission they have agreed to the terms and took the decision.
At the moment 433 buses are being run under this service.Further 25 semi-luxury buses agreed to transform their buses into luxury buses.
The minister said new permits will not be provided to operate semi-luxury buses.
