State Minister Wasantha Senanayake today (Nov 7) said he would work under Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, if the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Presidential candidate is voted into power.
Addressing a news conference, the state minister stressed he would not consider returning to the United National Party (UNP), through which he had been elected to Parliament.
The UNP last month announced that Senanayake had been expelled from the party, in the wake of his remarks against the campaigning team of presidential candidate Sajith Premadasa.
However, Senanayake told reporters that he cannot tolerate the manner in which the party had treated him in the past.
He claimed that he has CCTV footage of key members in the UNP-led United National Front government who had visited his residence and held talks with him, after he had left the party on previous occasions.
Senanayake had switched sides multiple times, during last year’s constitutional crisis.
