A seven-member judge bench has been appointed to hear the 12 Fundamental Rights (FR) petitions that were filed challenging the gazette issued by the President Sirisena to dissolve Parliament.
Accordingly, the seven-member judge bench will include Chief Justice Nalin Perera, Justices Prasanna Jayawardena, Priyantha Jayawardena, Buwaneka Aluvihare, Vijith Mallegoda, Sisira de Abrew and Murshu Fernando.
The FR petitions were taken up for a two-day hearing on November 12 and 13 following which the Supreme Court decided to issue a stay order on the gazette until December 07.
The case was taken up before a three-member judge bench headed by Chief Justice Nalin Perera.
However, the SLPP filed a motion in the Supreme Court three days later calling for a fuller bench to hear the case.
The next series of hearing will take place between December 04 to 06.
