Eight suspects including seven police officers and a forest ranger have been arrested in connection with the abduction and alleged killing of two businessmen in Rathgama.
The suspects were arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) after they were instructed to be present for a questioning today (Mar 18).
"Among the arrested suspects were two sub-inspectors, two sergeants, two police constables and a police constable driver," Police Spokesman S.P. Ruwan Gunasekara told Times Online.
All eight suspects would be produced before the Galle Magistrate's Court in due course.
Meanwhile, seven other suspects who have been arrested in connection with the alleged killings have been remanded, Mr. Gunasekara noted.
