Former Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa has said that it is shocking to see the standards of the State Intelligence Service dropping despite being a one-time prominent intelligence service in the world.
Issuing a special statement, the former Defence Secretary noted that the duty of an exemplary society is to eliminate terrorism from the country.
While expressing his condolences towards the victims of the attack, Mr. Rajapaksa said that the entire country must pray for the speedy recovery of those who were injured in the explosions that shook the country last Sunday.
He pointed out that the hearts of all Sri Lankans which were struck with terror following last Sunday's tragedy was a testament to a decent society in the country.
The former defence secretary insisted that it is now the government's duty of reconstructing the Churches which were destroyed as a result of the explosions.
Mr. Rajapaksa, in his statement also said that it is vital to establish an environment within the country in which people of all faiths can live in harmony and peace. He also said that his actions have proven that he is capable of eliminating any force which is posing a threat to the country.
