The Sri Lankan ministerial delegation which is currently in Oman met with Oil and Gas Minister Mohamed Hameed Al Ruhmy, the Sri Lankan Board of Investment (BOI) said in a press release.
The delegation included Ministers Malik Samarawickrama, Kabir Hashim, Rishard Bathiudeen and BOI Chairman Mangala Yapa.
Talks had also been held with officials of the Oman Oil Company and Orpic (Oman Oil Refineries and Petroleum Industries Company) which is the intergrated oil and petroleum company in Oman.
Discussions had revolved around the possibilities of forming a partnership with Orpic in the proposed Greenfied Oil Refinery in Hambantota, as an investor and a strategic partner in addition to Silver Park International, Singapore, the BOI noted.
Officials from Silver Park International too were present during these discussions.
The touring delegation had also been granted an opportunity to engage in a visit to Orpic which is currently in its final stages of construction in Sohar, Oman.
Meanwhile, Oil and Gas Minister Al Ruhmy along with Orpic had expressed firm interest in becoming a partner in the Greenfied Oil Refinery project, the BOI's press release said adding that they had proposed to establish a Joint Task Force to expedite this process.
