The politburo of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) which met last night has approved the formation of a new alliance with the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP). The new alliance will be named as the "Sri Lanka Nidahas Podujana Sandanaya," SLFP Senior Deputy Chairman Prof Rohana Luxman Piyadasa said.
He added that the alliance will have joint leaders from the SLPP and SLFP while the posts of Secretary and Treasurer will go to SLPP.
The posts of National Organizer and Deputy Secretary will go to the SLFP.
The post of General Secretary of the alliance will be decided on later, Prof. Piyadasa said.
The composition of the alliance's Executive Committee will be 51% from the SLPP, 31% from the SLFP with the balance 18% going to other constituent parties of the alliance.
