UPDATE : The fifth round of talks between the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) and the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) on the proposed alliance will be held on May 30, SLFP General Secretary Dayasiri Jayasekara said.
He made this remark upon conclusion of the fourth round of talks between both parties.
SLFP - SLPP hold fourth round of talks on proposed alliance
The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) and the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) are currently holding their fourth round of discussions on the proposed alliance between the two parties.
Previously, both parties had engaged in discussions on March 14, March 21, and April 10 following which leading politicians from the SLFP claimed further talks were required.
Speaking at a press briefing following the third round of discussions, SLFP General Secretary Dayasiri Jayasekara said that both parties wil continue to hold talks on the guidelines of the proposed alliance.
"During the third round of discussions we discussed only 20 points regarding our policy guidelines. However, this number has now gone upto 25. This enables us to prepare a strong policy in order to proceed with the talks on the alliance," he said during the news conference.
