UPFA Southern Provincial Councillor (PC) Krishantha Pushpakumara alias "Raththaran" has been arrested today (Feb 28) over charges of sexually harassing a 16-year old girl.
The victim who lodged a complaint at the Police station alleged that the incident in question concerning the PC member had taken place on February 26.
Accordingly, Akmeemana Police had commenced a search operation to arrest the suspect yesterday.
However, the councillor along with his lawyer had surrendered to the police following which he was arrested.
The suspect is due to be produced before the Galle Magistrates Court today.
