On a request made by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, the Committee on Parliamentary Business has decided to hold a special session of Parliament on November 11 to debate the bill on 'prevention of offences in sports'.
According to a statement released by the Parliament's Communication Department, the decision was taken at the Parliamentary Business Committee held yesterday (Nov 06) chaired by Speaker Karu Jayasuriya.
In addition, the Bill regarding the establishment of the Innovation Agency will also be presented for a second reading on the same day.
Earlier it was decided to adjourn the Parliament until December 3, 2019. However, the members of the Governing party urged that the Parliament should be summoned immediately to debate the Bill on Prevention of offences in Sports.
