Special traffic plan in Colombo on Independence Day

News

The Traffic Police Uint said that the traffic in Colombo will be restricted on February 4 due to Independence Day ceremony in the following manner:

2016.02.03 (Wednesday)
 
5am to 12 noon
From Galle road, Galle face roundabout to Old Parliament roundabout, Chaithya road.
7am to 12 noon
- From Kollupitiya junction towards Galle face roundabout (only passenger buses and residents are allowed)
- From Kollupitiya St.Michael's roundabout towards the Galle road and from Rotunda roundabout towards Galle road (only residents are allowed)
- From Ceramic junction and Lotus road towards Old Parliament (only office vehicles are allowed)
9.00.a.m to 12.00.p.m
- Along the York street to Bank road (only office vehicles are allowed)
- From Gamini roundabout towards D.R.Wijewardhane Mw.
8.15 a.m to 12.00.p.m
- From Janadipathi Mw, Bank road junction to the Old Parliament junction (only office vehicles are allowed)

2016.02.04 (Thursday)
 
5am to 12noon
From Galle road, Galle face roundabout to Old Parliament roundabout, Chaithya road.
7am to 12 noon

- From Kollupitiyai junction to Galle face roundabout (only the residents are allowed)
- From Kollpiti St.Michol roundabout to Galle road. (only residents are allowed)
- From Rotunda roundabout towards Galle road (only the residents are allowed)
- From Ceramic junction (Lotus road) towards Old Parliament (only office vehicles are allowed)
- Along the York street towards Bank road (only the office vehicles are allowed)
- From the Cey-nor junction (opposite the Fort railway station) towards Fort C.T.O (only office vehicles are allowed)
- From Y.M.B.A junction towards Bastian Mw and Sir Baron Jayathilake Mw. (only office vehicles are allowed)
8a.m to 12noon
- From Gamini roundabout towards D.R.Wijewardhane Mw.
- From Slave island (Kompannavidiya) Police rounabout towards Regal junction (only office vehicles are allowed)
The passenger buses and the motor vehicles via Galle road and Galle face to Colombo should travel through the following traffic plans on 4th February 2016.
From 9a.m until the end of the ceremony

- Galle road, Bagathale road, R.A. De Mel Mw, Bauddhaloka Mw, Thumulla roundabout, Thurstan road, J.O.C junction, glass house junction, Nanda motors, Nelum pokuna roundabout, Soiza rounabout, Deans road, Technical junction.

- From 9.00 a.m- Trafic are allowed to travel from Kollupitiya junction, Piththala junction and Slave island

Passenger buses and motor vehicles leaving Colombo are possible to travel along Olcot Mw, Technical junction, Maradana bridge junction, T.B.Jaya Mw, Ibbanwala junction, Union place, Lipton roundabout, Dharmapala Mw, F.R.Senanayake Mw, Kannangara Mw, Nanda Motors, Independant roundabout, Read Mw, Thummulla roundabout, Bauddhaloka Mw, R.A. De Mel Mw and to the Galle road

Heavy vehicles via Galleface on 4th February,should enter Colombo via W.A.Silva Mw, Old Havelok road, Maya roundabout, Havelok road, Thimbirigasyaya road, Baseline road and should leave Colombo by above roads vice versa.
