Sri Lanka to sign Paris Agreement on Climate Change

Minister of Science, Technology and Research Susil Premajayantha will be signing the Paris Agreement on Climate Change on behalf of the Sri Lankan Government at the agreement's signing ceremony on April 22 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. 

Minister Premajayantha will also be attending the UN General Assembly on the World Drug Problem and the High Level Thematic Debate on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, which will also be held on preceding days.

The decision comes after Cabinet approved a proposal made by President Maithripala Sirisena to entrust Minister Premajayantha to sign the above agreement and to participate in the above mentioned other functions in line with the ceremony.
