Sri Lankan migrant workers stranded in Qatar held a protest demonstration in front of the Sri Lankan Embassy situated in the State's Capital, Doha on Monday (6).
About 270 workers stranded in the country due to COVID-19 are reported to have taken part in the protest, demanding that the Sri Lankan government take steps to repatriate them.
The workers claimed that they had lost their jobs at the end of February owing to the pandemic and that they were suffering from lack of food and other basic facilities.
They further charged that embassy officials failed to take any action though they wrote to them about their difficulties.
