The Sri Lankan High Commission in Malaysia has declared a four-month amnesty period for Sri Lankans who have been illegally overstaying in Malaysia to return to the country.
This amnesty period will be in effect from August 1 to December 31 this year.
Accordingly, those seeking to return to Sri Lanka should submit a request including the required documents to the Sri Lankan High Commission along with administrative fees of 700 RM (Rs 30,000).
The High Commission, within a week, would provide the required legal documents to return to the country, the Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau said.
It also urged Sri Lankans employed illegally in Malaysia to make maximum use of the amnesty period to return to the country.
