State must take over SAITM - Ranjith De Zoysa
United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA) Ratnapura District MP Ranjith De Zoysa said SAITM must be taken over by the State with immediate effect for their to be an acceptable solution to the controversy surrounding the institute.
Speaking at the Parliamentary Debate on "Issues pertaining to the South Asian Institute of Technology and Medicine (SAITM) in Malabe," the MP, who represents the Joint Opposition (JO) in Parliament also accused that there were unqualified students at SAITM. He claimed that the son of a Deputy Minister from Kalutara was studying at SAITM even after having failed to pass all three subjects in the Bio Science stream at the GCE A/Level examination, despite three attempts.
