A Special Task Force (STF) officer has shot himself while on duty at the Temple Trees this morning.
The incident had taken place while the officer was guarding the gate of the Temple Trees in the vicinity of the St. Michael Junction at around 8:35.
The victim had been rushed to the Colombo General Hospital following which he had succumbed to his injuries.
Police have identified the victim as 30-year old Police Constable Dilruksha Samarasinghe.
