Steps have been taken to provide all necessary facilities to the 33 Sri Lankan students who were evacuated from Wuhan while they are being quarantined at the Diyathalawa army base, Acting Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Lt.Gen. Shavendra Silva said.
The 33 Sri Lankans who arrived in the country this morning on a special SriLankan Airlines flight is comprised of 18 females and 15 males.
The Government Information Department, quoting the Acting CDS, stated that the group was first checked by the Sri Lanka Air Force after they landed at Mattala International Airport. They were then taken in a bus prepared by the SLAF along with a tri-forces medical team to the Diyathalawa Army Camp.
The group will stay in quarantine for 14 days in separate rooms prepared for them at the army hospital of the Diyathalawa camp.
The rooms have been provided with free Wi-Fi facilities for them to correspond with their parents and relatives, food and clothes as well as any other facilities required by them, Lt. Gen. Silva stated.
In the event that parents of the students wish to provide anything for the students, the army has also established a special counter at the base to make this possible, he further added.
