The Supreme Court yesterday decided to postpone the consideration of two Urgent Parliamentary Bills directed by the President for special determination. The two Bills had originally been scheduled for consideration today before a Supreme Court Bench presided over by Chief Justice K. Siripavan. The Bills being the National Audit Bill and the Right to Information Bill had been directed to the Supreme Court on April 23 by President Maithripala Sirisena for a special determination of the Supreme Court. Since the 19th Amendment to the Constitution has been taken up for debate in Parliament, the Chief Justice has instructed the Registrar to defer the scheduled date for some time.
