The suspect believed to be behind the killing of a person in Slave Island yesterday (Nov 6), has been arrested, police said.
He had been taken into custody at the Colombo General Hospital after being hospitalised for his injuries sustained during a brawl with the deceased victim.
Investigations have shown that the suspect, a 49-year old, had previously served as a Sub Inspector of Police while playing for the Police Rugby Team.
He had then been employed as a rugby coach of a boys school in Colombo.
An operation had been launched to arrest the suspect after a 49-year old man was found stabbed to death at his residence in Dharmapala Mawatha in Slave Island last morning.
