Ganiya Bannister Francis, a Swiss Embassy employee remanded amid claims of allegedly being kidnapped, was granted bail today (Dec 30).
The Colombo Magistrate's Court during a hearing ordered the accused to be released on two surety bails worth Rs 500,000 each.
The accused had been remanded under charges of acting in a manner to discredit the government and for fabricating evidence regarding the alleged incident.
Francis had claimed to have been kidnapped in late November, an incident refuted by the government based on findings of investigative bodies.
