President Maithripala Sirsena has said that a Filipino team will visit Sri Lanka to assist the government by providing technology consultancy services to curb drug trafficking.
Addressing an event at Vidyananda Maha Vidyalaya, Mulliyawal, Mullaitivu, yesterday (21), President Sirisena reiterated that the government will not change its stance on imposing capital punishment on drug traffickers.
He added that a new approach would be implemented from next week onwards to curb drug trafficking.
The President claimed that certain human rights organisations which have raised concerns against harsh penalties on drug dealers, have not considered the future of Sri Lanka’s children.
Information regarding not only the drug dealers, but other parties behind these dealers will be revealed to the country, President Sirisena remarked.
