Ten persons have died in road traffic accidents on Thursday (17), Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana.
He said seven died from accidents on Thursday while another three who were seriously injured from fatal accidents on Wednesday have succumbed to injuries.
Special traffic operations will commence from this weekend to detect drivers involved in speeding and reckless driving, drunk driving, using mobile phones etc. Action will also be taken against passengers and pedestrians violating traffic rules.
"Highest number of road accidents are reported between April 10 to 20 and again from December 20 to January 5," he said.
