Train derails between Nawalapitiya and Ulapane railway stations

News

The night mail train plying from Badulla to Colombo derailed early this morning between the Nawalapitiya and Ulapane railway stations.

Railway operations have been hampered as a result.

Media reports quoted the Railway Control room as saying the rail track has been damaged as a result of the derailment and steps are underway to restore services.
