Two persons have been arrested in Dambulla after Police had noticed suspicious activity concerning the suspects last evening.
The suspects have been identified as residents of Kurunegala, Katupotha and Mawanella. Police have identified the suspects as a 40-year old father and his son aged 25.
The arrest was set in motion upon a tip-off received by the Dambulla Crimes Division.
It is reported that the father and his son had departed from Colombo and were heading towards Kattankudy on a bus before getting off at Dambulla. They had then travelled towards a lodge in the area in a three-wheeler.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that one suspect is a wanted suspect in an incident involving the vandalisation of religious places of worship. The other suspect is believed to be a relative of a leader of a religious Muslim organisation, police said.
Meanwhile, it is also said that the two individuals had been seeking shelter in several parts of the country in a bid to evade arrest.
