UPDATE : Victim identified as wanted suspect in shooting incident last year

UPDATE : Police have identified the body of the gunshot victim in Navagamuwa as C. Prasad Karunaratne who was a wanted suspect in the shooting of Dhanushka Sanjeewa alias 'Manna' in December last year.

The suspect is a resident of Gonawela, police said.

Unidentified individual found shot dead in Navagamuwa

A corpse of a man was found in close proximity to a rubber estate in Navagamuwa earlier today (Mar 11).

Police suspect that the victim was shot dead since live ammunition and empty bullets used to fire T-56 guns were found strewn around the body.

The deceased has not been identified as of yet, police said adding that further investigations are being carried out into the incident.
