A policeman has been arrested after he claimed that his firearm went off accidentally damaging the emblem of the UNP party symbol fitted at the Sirikotha party headquarters in Pitakotte, Police said.
Police are investigating if the firing had taken place deliberately or it was an accident as claimed.
He was attached to the Mirihana police and had been assigned to special duty for May day.
