Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera held official talks with visiting Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia of the USA, Ms. Nisha Biswal at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs yesterday, a ministry statement said.
Assistant Secretary Biswal reviewed a range of bilateral issues. She conveyed the US Government’s desire to work closely with the newly elected government of President Maithripala Sirisena.
The forthcoming visit of Foreign Minister Samaraweera to Washington was discussed. The Foreign Minister informed Asst Secretary Biswal about the 100 day programme of the Government and its implementation. They also explored prospects for enhanced cooperation, particularly collaboration in strengthening economic ties between the two countries.
Assistant Secretary, Biswal called on President Maithripala Sirisena, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe during her visit to Sri Lanka.
