Sixty-three (63) female inmates, seven male inmates and a Special Task Force personnel who was on duty at Welikada prison have been tested positive for COVID-19, police said.
Meanwhile, another seven inmates at Bogambara prison have also been infected with the virus.
All COVID-infected prison inmates are being treated at the heavily guarded Welikanda treatment centre in Polonnaruwa.
