Wildlife officer killed in Hambantota

News

A wildlife officer has been killed after being shot while trying to arrest a suspect in the Walsapugala area in Hambantota.

It was not immediately clear if the officer had been shot dead by poachers or whether it had been due to the accidental discharge of a weapon. Investigations are underway.
