A witness in a murder case has been shot in Wennappuwa following a court hearing today (Apr 05).
The shooting had taken place along the Puttalam - Colombo main road when the suspect was returning after providing a witness statement before courts in a murder-related case.
It is reported that an unidentified group who were travelling on a KDH van had fired gun shots at the victim who was in a WagonR vehicle at the time of the incident. Police believe that the shooting had been carried out using a T-56 gun.
Meanwhile, the victim has been hospitalised at the Negombo General Hospital while police are conducting investigations to locate and apprehend the suspects.
