A Yatinuwara Pradeshiya Sabha member has been remanded until July 24 for obstructing the duty of a sub police inspector.
Thusitha Walagedara, who represents the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), is alleged to have attacked the police officer while he was engaged in traffic duties.
The suspect had entered hospital at Peradeniya claiming that he had been attacked by the police officer.
However, the Kandy Additional Magistrate had ordered the suspect to be remanded after conducting an inquiry at the hospital.
