A dozen Sri Lankan players will be among a total of 350 cricketers set to go under the hammer at the Indian Premier League (IPL) Player Auction for the 2026 season happening at Abu Dhabi on December 16.
Among the 12 Sri Lankans, seasoned IPL campaigners, slinger Matheesha Pathirana, off-spinner Maheesh Theekshana and allrounder Wanindu Hasaranga will take the limelight with a top base price of INR 20 million.
Explosive top-order bat and wicketkeeper Kusal Perera and current Sri Lanka white-ball captain and allrounder Charith Asalanka have been tagged at INR 10 million as base price.
Sri Lanka opener Pathum Nissanka, currently in action at the ongoing International League T20 (ILT20) in the UAE with Gulf Giants with three back-to-back half centuries, and wicketkeeper/batsman Kusal Mendis will start off with a base price of INR 7,500,000.
Former Sri Lanka white-ball skipper Dasun Shanaka, spinner Vijayakanth Viyaskanth, allrounder Dunith Wellalage and paceman Binura Fernando have been tagged with the same base price as Nissanka and Mendis at INR 7,500,000.
Off-spinning allrounder Traveen Mathew, who is just 21 years of age, completes the list of 12 Sri Lankan cricketers set to be auctioned in a week at INR 3 million.
The total listed 350 players include 240 Indian players and 110 overseas players, who were picked from a long list of 1390 registered for the IPL 2026 Player Auction, where franchises will battle out to complete the 77 remaining slots.
