Injured fast-bowler, Dushmantha Chameera, having gone under the knife on Saturday, announced that he now begins his weeks-long resting period on road to recovery and return to the game.
The seam merchant, having missed the Asia Cup that they triumphed, went into the World Cup as the pace ace with heavy hopes resting on him.
However, all of those were shattered when he met head on with a bitter and big blow, sustaining a calf injury after their Qualifying match against the UAE, and eventually ruled off from the game itself for weeks.
Taking to his Meta, previously Facebook, the right-armer said, “My ankle surgery was performed successfully a while ago. I'm grateful to surgeon Dr. Mark Blackney & crew for all the support throughout the surgery and making it a smooth process”. [Read more: https://www.facebook.com/DushmanthaChameera.lk/]
The 30-year-old, along with a pair of pictures of him posing from the bed, also credited Sri Lanka Cricket’s Medical Committee chairman Prof. Arjuna de Silva, also at Melbourne at the time of the operation, for looking after him.
“Thanks a lot Professor Arjuna for being here at the Surgery and taking me under your supervision. Hoping to bounce back soon with stronger than ever”, he concluded.
