The first day's play of the 142nd Battle of the Blues between Royal College and S. Thomas' College, due to be played at the SSC ground in Colombo was called off without a ball being bowled today (28).
The toss of the match did not take place due to bad weather and the match officials had several inspections before finally deciding to call off the first day's play at 3.30pm.
However, conditions were looking feasible during the morning as both teams were present for an official picture, but minutes later a downpour occurred delaying the start.
Match referee Graeme Labrooy and umpires Lyndon Hannibal and Prageeth Rambukwella did a final inspection around 3.00pm before officially announcing the call of first day's play.
The match will continue on Friday (29) and Saturday (30).
