Responding to the appeals made by the member clubs, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has decided to provide financial assistance to the clubs, which are facing difficulties due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
"The clubs eligible to receive the proposed financial assistance will be recommended by a Special Committee, which will evaluate based on a given criteria," a statement issued by SLC said.
The funds will be disbursed to sustain the cricketing programmes of the respective clubs, including player welfare.
This decision was made at SLC's first Executive Committee meeting which was held last week after the new administration was elected.
