Football: Aqsarian Super Kings emerge ASL Super League champions

Aqsarian Super Kings emerged champions of the Aqsarian Super League (ASL) Football Tournament 2021 when they defeated Aqsarian Super Stars by 1-0 in a closely contested final played at the Kinniya ground in Trincomalee.

The winning goal for the champions was booted by T.M. Roshan in the 29th minute of proceedings which came off a penalty offered for an infringement. 

The two teams in booking the berth to the final recorded easy wins in the semi finals against Aqsarian Jupiters and Aqsarian Super Fighters.

Along with the football tournament sponsors Nestle Lanka Ltd held the Milo's campaign to reward 10,000 consumers in the Eastern region with bikes, laptops and gifts worth Rs. 10 million.

Apart from the champion trophy offered to the champion team a valuable Milo bicycle was offered with M. Janitha of Alankeny Kinniya being selected as the lucky recipient.

The ASL Football Tournament conducted by Al-Aqsa National School Kinniya, Trincomalee and sponsored by Nestle Lanka Ltd under the brand Milo saw the participation of eight teams namely Aqsarian Racing Stars, Aqsarian Black Panthers, Aqsarian Blue Eagles, Aqsarian Super Kings, Aqsarian Warriors, Aqsarian Jupitors, Aqsarian Super Fighters and Aqsarian Super Boys.
