Title holders - Jaffna Kings - registered yet another date with defending their title when they beat Kandy Falcons in a Duckworth-Lewis-influenced Method by 24-runs in the qualfier 1 on Wednesday at R. Premadasa Stadium.
Falcons, batting first, managed to muster only 143 despite having explosive batters, including two West Indians.
Kings bowlers, too, did their part, particularly the Jaffna-based Vijayakanth Viyaskanth picking up three scalps, the most for the match.
Chasing 144 for their third straight finals, Carlos Brathwaite made amends for failing to fire with the bat by removing the openers.
However, when the not-so-heavy but steady rain sealed the proceedings, Kings were ahead of 24 runs, and thereby earning a direct entry into their finals.
